CLOSURE OF STUDY GUIDE AND PLANS AROUND REOPENING OF SCHOOL

It is with gratitude to God for his loving care and protection that we reach out to you once again, our dear parents and students, in the midst of this pandemic. We strongly believe that the worst days are behind us now. We can see the early morning sun in the horizon.  We look forward in hope to God, who alone in his mercy heals our world as we make gradual return to ‘normalcy’ though in a ‘new way’.

CLOSE OF OUR STUDY GUIDE FOR 3rd TERM 2019/2020 ACADEMIC YEAR

As we seriously look forward to re-opening school for in-person learning, we wish to bring to your notice that our online Study Guide has come to an end officially.  The teachers, ICT department, students, parents and guardians deserve our praise for the roles each has played in rising up to the unusual challenge of these past months. Given our circumstance, we can say that it was a success, for those who followed through. 95% of the subject teachers finished their work for the 3rd term. However, students will still need to do intensive revisions with their teachers before we go to a new stage.

The 3rd CBT (TEST) was delayed by our ICT providers. It has been published. Students must do well to take the Quiz as soon as possible.

Students who are yet to meet the demands of the Study Guides should be reminded that they still have the opportunity and grace to do so and at their pace before the resumption of school. Every assignment must be submitted at the reopening of school; hence, no one should take anything for granted. Students stand the risk of repeating the whole year if they decide to do otherwise.

EXAM CLASSES

The Federal Ministry of Education has released a guideline for Safe reopening of Schools. Today, 27th of July, they announced that schools can reopen from August 4 for those in exit classes (JSS 3 and SSS 3). We will announce our resumption date before Wednesday. All hands must be on deck to get the students prepared for the task ahead.

REOPENING OF SCHOOLS FOR THE REST OF THE STUDENTS

It is not within our control to determine the date for reopening of schools for in-person teaching and learning. That is the responsibility of the government. However we hope to reopen for a full online teaching and learning (better than what we did April-July) in September if the government did not come forth with a clearer calendar going forward. The safety of our students matter to us: so also their progress and sense of achievement. We hope for our students not to lose any year because of this pandemic as far as it is within our control and the parents are ready to cooperate with us. We have to get ready to navigate this uncharted path for the good of our children.

SUPPLEMENTAY ENTRANCE EXAMINATION/INTERVIEWS

Supplementary examination and interview for the 2020/2021 academic year for our institution is ongoing. It holds all the Saturdays in the month of August, 2020 at the school premises. Time is 10:00am prompt. We have made a provision for those who are afar and may prefer CBT and virtual (online) interview. Such people can reach us through the following numbers for further enquiries: 08069830352 (Principal’s Office), 08032359150 (Fr. A. C. Onuoha), 07030912914 (Fr. P. C. Okafor), 08060641036 (Fr. E. U. Ibekwe), 08109507794 (Bro. Val. Ogu).

KEEPING EVERYONE HEALTHY AND SAFE

We are aware of the fact that most people do not believe the reality of the COVID-19. We want to reiterate that it is real. It has infected millions of people (16,157,585), and claimed the lives of hundreds of thousand globally (647,159) and hundreds (858) in our country as at the 26th of July. Every parent and guardian has the responsibility to get their child(ren) tuned to the seriousness of this disease. It is your responsibility to keep them healthy for all of us.

As we worry about the physical health our students, we do same for their mental and spiritual health. Make sure they are meaningfully engaged through age-appropriate recreating activities, work and studies. Beware of the information they feed themselves with through social media and television. Bring them back healthy in soul, mind and body.

We continue to wish you and your entire family safety as we journey through this hard time! We are optimistic that this will end as soon as possible.

God bless Pope John Paul Model Secondary School!
